The Eee PC killer, AKA Dell Mini, will be out this Friday 8/22. Dell decided to call it Inspiron 910 instead of Dell Mini, assume 910 means 9 inch LCD screen.

Even through the first netbook is only few months old, we already seeing some crazy price war between Asus and MSI. First Asus announced second generation of netbook called Eee PC 901 for $599.99, then MSI makes everyone goes wooo with 10 inch MSI wind for $499.99. Asus later cuts $100 0ff to its Eee PC 1000H with bigger 6 cell battery to $549.99 to beat MSI Wind's 6 cell version to the ground which priced at $599.99. Now, after MSI's recent price change to its 6 cell Wind to $549.99, Asus Eee PC 1000H fights back once again with a new price tag, $535.95.

Hope MSI can come up with a version similar to Eee PC 1000 to benefit all of us with the price war.

Eee PC 701SD spec starts to flow around many of the web sites around the world. This nice looking Eee PC is plan to release in September, 2008. Few noticeable enchantments over the original 7" Eee PC are:

- two buttons touchpad instead of one
- comes with Atom processor
- 16:9 ratio 7" wide screen
- has Eee PC logo instead of Asus logo
- 7 hours battery life

Asus marketing team has been doing a good job listening to all the requests from end users, and able to come up with all different models to fit everyone's need. This model definitely is for people have been complaining about the need of netbook PC to be under $299 price range.

As always, we are hoping the price will be $199 as Asus promised long ago. This looks like another success and surely it will be a big hit if the price is right!

Asus Eee PC 1000H and 1000 comes with additional Linux software which is not available to the previous version of Eee PCs. Fear no more! You can actually download and install these software packages to any version of the Eee PC you like. Best of all, it is on Asus offical Eee PC download site so there is no compatibility issues.

Check out 1000, 1000h, and 1000hd directories

For Chinese users, the best software package is "Dr. Eye Chinese/English" translation/dictionary software, which usually cost money to buy. The package is called dreye-cht_1.1.2_i386.deb

Once it is downloaded, just run "dpkg -i dreye-cht_1.1.2_i386.deb" to install it.

MSI announced MSI Wind Notebook in Korea. The system comes with Korea keyboard and priced around US$590 for 1GB RAM and 3 cell battery model. This does sounds like MSI Wind in United States has the best pricing for 3 cell/512MB ($499) and 6 cell/1GB ($599) models.

MSI Wind U100 was going for US$630 in Taiwan back in June (Link to the news). Before it finally goes on sale in United States, I thought US$499 price range that MSI promised was impossible to meet. However, MSI managed to make this happen by cutting corners, having the system comes with 512MB RAM and 3 cell battery.

Recently mwave.com starts to sell a "full version" of MSI Wind U100 that comes with 1GB RAM and a 6 cell battery. The bad news is that it is priced at US$599.99 instead of US$549.99 like Asus Eee PC 1000H.

More Eee PC models are announced through U.S. based Asus Eee PC web site. We're now have Eee PC 1000HD and 904HD. We did hear about the 904HD before but 1000HD is something new that perhaps everyone over looked due to wide range of Eee PC models that ASUS provides. If every hardware differences has its own model name, I wonder why there are three Eee PC 900 to choose from (12GB, 20GB and the "new"16GB SDD).

Asus, please keep the fun coming since we can never have enough Eee PC to play with!

Eee PC 1000 with 40GB SSD is now available in Taiwan (7/21/2008). It is listed for NT$19,988 (US$670).

UPDATE: Eee PC 1000 is now available for online order through some US based online stores. It is listed for US$699.99.
